Roman Clay Showroom Walls in Los Angeles
This Los Angeles showroom project was designed as a flagship space for a well-known marble furniture brand, where materiality and restraint were central to the overall experience.
We were brought in to apply Roman Clay finishes that would complement the sculptural quality of the furniture without competing for attention.
Design Approach
In a showroom environment, the walls should support the objects within the space, not dominate them.
The goal here was to create a surface that had enough texture to feel intentional, but remained controlled so that the furniture and stone elements remained the focus.
Roman Clay was selected for its ability to create soft movement without high reflectivity.
Application & Process
Roman Clay was applied in multiple thin layers, with careful control over trowel movement to avoid overly dramatic texture.
In spaces like this, consistency matters more than variation. We adjusted pressure and application patterns across walls to ensure a balanced finish throughout the showroom.
Traditional paint was used in designated areas to create contrast and maintain spatial hierarchy.
What We’ve Seen on This Project
Commercial spaces behave differently than residential ones. Lighting is often more directional and surfaces are viewed from multiple angles throughout the day.
With Roman Clay, even small inconsistencies can become more noticeable in these environments, so application needs to be controlled and intentional.
Result
The finished space feels calm and material-driven. The Roman Clay adds depth to the walls without distracting from the marble and furniture pieces.
It allows the showroom to function as intended, where every element works together rather than competing for attention.
